Australia sent a small team to compete at the 2023 Disabled World Water Ski Champioships held at Elk Grove, USA in September. Two major results were Samantha Jane-Longmore and Scott Wintle both setting world records in the jump event.
Disabled Water Ski Australia (DWSA) successfully hosted the 2017 Disabled Water Skiing Championships at the Myuna Bay Water Ski Club, NSW in April, 2017, and pulled off a remarkable team gold medal for the first time ever and it was on their own soil. These titles are held every two years and the 2019 World Championships were held in Skarnes, Norway from 22-28 July. Australia was able to send a small but strong team but could not match the very powerful US team. Australia won team silver, breaking 3 world records in the process.
In 2025, Australia is yet again hosting the World Championships in Mulwala, Victoria from November 25 – 30. This presents an ideal opportunity to win back the coveted gold medal title. Hosting the worlds does have a significant advantage in that we should be able to field a full team including up to two rookies.
Hosting a world championships is a costly endeavour and as such we are seeking to raise $50,000 plus to meet expenses.
Your help and support would be very much appreciated in helping Australia host the next world title’s.
